A COUNCIL “Bedroom Tax” motion which was proposed by Plaid Cymru councillors have been watered down by the Labour group. The motion was to introduce a series of measures to protect tenant, which include a promise not to evict people because of Bedroom Tax arrears.
The Plaid group had requested a series of actions to protect people and for the council to look at ways of mitigating this iniquitous tax.
Labour councillors were happy to hand in a large petition of over 2,000 signatures collected by campaigners but when faced with real suggestions of ways to help refused to do so.
To protect the 2,741 social housing tenants would mean spending money. Sadly the council have spent the money to introduce a living wage.
