MANY believe the dust has now settled over same-sex marriages. The issue is still much alive, especially as we approach the European elections.

At present, those who believe that true marriage can only be between a man and a woman, at least have the freedom to say so. However, there are forces of darkness at work within the EU which would like to see this freedom taken away.

The EU is pushing for what is called an equal treatment directive which would give it a greater say in British discrimination law, by introducing a new harassment law.

This could strip away the safeguards our country has in place, with grave implications for freedom of speech and freedom of conscience.

So a legitimate question to be asking candidates is would you defend the freedom to stand for traditional marriage, and would you oppose any form of an equal treatment directive?
