  • "Just because the media are shackled from publishing any objections, not much point posting unless the idea is to re-assure yourself .... If posters come out with let's ban same-sex marriages and same-sex anything the Argus would be in like Flynn and erase the lot, so real objections are never seen. NOT a good idea in my view as it tends to drive views underground, then discrimination is MUCH harder to address. Probably that bearded lady in Eurovision has gained the UKIP another 5,000 votes. If they get rid of Eurovision and the blatant bloc voting and anti-British votes that are par for the course, we might feel included to look at Europe and see if there is any point wasting our time with them. For me, no, not worth our time, let's get out, sadly that means those who feel the same way can ONLY vote for the UKIP, the rest want in."

Marriage worry

First published in Letters

MANY believe the dust has now settled over same-sex marriages. The issue is still much alive, especially as we approach the European elections.

At present, those who believe that true marriage can only be between a man and a woman, at least have the freedom to say so. However, there are forces of darkness at work within the EU which would like to see this freedom taken away.

The EU is pushing for what is called an equal treatment directive which would give it a greater say in British discrimination law, by introducing a new harassment law.

This could strip away the safeguards our country has in place, with grave implications for freedom of speech and freedom of conscience.

So a legitimate question to be asking candidates is would you defend the freedom to stand for traditional marriage, and would you oppose any form of an equal treatment directive?
