IFALLELSEFAILS, Teejay 'N' Aitch and Lord Podgski kept the Scottish flag flying on the final day of the 1997 Perth Festival.

Jim Goldie's string are in tremendous form at present and Teejay 'N' Aitch gave the Uplawmoor trainer his fifth winner in the past 11 racing days in the novices handicap hurdle.

''Flat and jumps - they are all sprinters to me,'' joked Goldie. ''This horse has had wind problems and underwent a soft pallet operation last summer.'' Despite jockey Scott Taylor dropping his whip, the partnership rallied well to beat Fairelaine by a short head.

Ifallelsefails, carrying the colours of Barbara Lungo and trained by her husband Len, produced a fine performance under top weight in the selling handicap hurdle.

''She's just a small mare and with Willie Dowling claimed 8lb, it made all the difference,'' said Lungo of his nine-year-old, now a winner of five races.

McGregor The Third, owned by Perth steward Fiona Whitaker, is expected to run a big race today in the Whitbread Gold Cup. She said: ''I'm flying down in the morning and it's wonderful having a runner with a chance in National Hunt's oldest sponsored race. He should run well and will love the crowd and the drop back in distance.''
