Three police officers were remanded on bail until July 20 in London
yesterday charged with the manslaughter last August of Joy Gardner, an
alleged illegal immigrant. Reporting restrictions were not lifted.
Detective Sergeant Linda Evans, Police Constable Colin Whitby, and
Police Constable John Burrell were at the time in a Scotland Yard unit
that specialised in deportation and extradition work.
