Farmers and crofters risk losing their single farm payments if their 2007 single application forms (SAF) are not completed on time.

NFU Scotland chief executive Andy Robertson warns: "With just four days to go, the completion of single application forms should now be the top priority job for producers - to ensure their access to support under the single farm payment scheme.

"To get full value of single farm payments the absolute deadline for SEERAD to receive IACS forms is Tuesday, May 15, 2007. After that date penalties of 1% per working day will apply. The same deadline applies to producers who have chosen to make their applications using the electronic application system. It is time to get forms completed, as single farm payments cannot be secured without submitting an SAF. Any farmer or crofter who does not have a form should contact their local SEERAD office immediately."
