Dir: Stevan Riley Star rating: *** Education is an admirable thing, but it is well to remember that nothing that is worth knowing can be taught." Stevan Riley begins his documentary about a group of Oxford University students trying to gain a coveted "blue" on the boxing squad with a quote from old boy Oscar Wilde. What seems at first to be an exploration of posh kids playing at being working class turns into a wry, intelligent film about growing up and, for some, accepting failure.

Riley has a gift for picking strong characters and drawing out their stories. If the ones here are not quite strong enough to stay the distance, the boxing action and a soundtrack ranging from opera to Dylan should be enough to keep you ringside.
