Two more men have been arrested by police investigating the Glasgow Airport car bomb attack.

Strathclyde Police said today that the men, aged 28 and 25, were arrested under the terms of Prevention of Terrorism Act.

The detentions of the men, who are not believed to be of Scottish origin, were as a result of intensive police operations in the Paisley area last night.

It brings to seven the total number of arrests connected with the failed car bomb attacks in London and Glasgow. The attack in Glasgow is being linked with the two failed attacks in London on Friday.

Leading the investigation, ACC John Malcolm of Strathclyde Police said:"This continues to be a fast-moving investigation and I am grateful to the public for their perseverance and support during these difficult times.I would continue to urge people to be vigilant and if they have any concerns to contact the police incident room on 0800 056 0944, or contact CRIMESTOPPERS on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained."

Meanwhile First Minister Alex Salmond took part in a meeting of the Cabinet sub-committee on civil contingencies in the Scottish Executive Emergency Room (Seer) via telephone link today.

It was chaired by justice secretary Kenny MacAskill, with Deputy First Minister Nicola Sturgeon and Lord Advocate Elish Angiolini among those present.

Strathclyde Police Deputy Chief Constable Ricky Gray also took part through a video conferencing facility.

The meeting ran through the policing and transport aspects surrounding the incident in Glasgow.

A further Seer meeting will be held ahead of tomorrow's full Cabinet meeting.
