A SCOT who lost everything when his Thai wife ran out on him locked himself in his car for four days in Thailand's searing heat before he was discovered.

Depressed Joe White, 55, from Glasgow, was found by British Embassy officials after giving his wife and mother of his two-year-old daughter £54,000 to go and build a new house in the country's north east.

Mr White had sold his house in the tourist hotspot of Pattaya to pay for the new home but he hasn't seen his wife since he gave her the money and she has since ignored his phone calls.

Today 25-stone Mr White was being treated for depression in Banglamuang hospital in Pattaya after being coaxed out of his Nissan car by an Embassy official.

The story was revealed to local press by Pattaya bar owner Possita Shore, who alerted officials after Mr White turned up at her Chester bar last Wednesday and left his car registration documents, which were in the name of his wife of two years.

The story is just one of a number of cases in recent years of foreigners losing everything to Thai wives.
