THE CONSTRUCTION team that built the Church Village bypass ran for charity and raised more than £3,500.
Staff from Costain, the construction company appointed by Rhondda Cynon Taf Council to build the long-awaited bypass took part in the Great Welsh Run at Cardiff Bay.
A team of 18 runners made up from the Wales Regional Office of Costain in Cardiff, staff working on the Church Village Bypass and representatives of Walters UK and Barrier Services ran the 10k race in Cardiff in July.
But after months of sponsorship-collecting, they have now reached the full amount of £3,761 and donated it to the Cystic Fibrosis Trust. Darren James, the Director of Infrastructure for Costain Ltd presented Nicky Richards of the Cystic Fibrosis Trust with the donation.
Brian Greaves, Community Relations Manager for Costain said: "This is the third year we have supported the event and total money raised for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust exceeds £7000. There is strong support in the team for this very worthy charity and plans are already in hand for a larger representation and raising even more money next year." Nicky Richards, for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust added: "I would like to thank Costain and their staff for their sterling efforts and every pound raised will be effectively used in research to treat and cure Cystic Fibrosis.
"It was a tremendous event this year, well supported and run in a carnival atmosphere on one of the warmest days of the summer."
