Are you in a band that needs a music video?

ARE YOU in a band that needs a music video - or would you like to work on or be in a music video?

Now's your chance - in the fourth year of the cutting edge MAKE IT! music/media project.

MAKE IT! is looking for one local band, a singer-songwriter, and a dozen young people aged 14-19 from Rhondda Cynon Taf who have a flair for media to take part in the 2009 Music Video and Band Photography Project.

Those selected will experience first-hand what it takes to work in the music and media industries.

Bands, singers and media participants entering must have a current original recording in either English or Welsh, and must be available to attend four evening development sessions during January and February 2009 (one per week) as well as be available for the whole of February half term (Feb 16-20, 2009).

SONIG Youth Music Industry and the Media section of Rhondda Cynon Taf Council's Arts Development Unit (part of RCT Cultural Services) is working in partnership with MAKE IT! on the project, which is funded through the 14-19 Learning Pathways Fund.

SONIG Co-ordinator Tanya Walker-Brown said: "This is a fantastic opportunity for young local musicians to create something special. It will also offer invaluable experience to those young people who are involved in the production side of the video. We are looking for young people with strong creativity and talent in this field."

The winners of the 2009 MAKE IT! project will have their videos screened at a special showcase gig. They will also receive management coaching once the project is completed, to guide them on what to do next with their video. Last year's winners were Rhondda metal band Dead End and Pontypridd singer/songwriter Kadesha Drija.

For further information on applying, please call Rhondda Cynon Taf's Arts Development Unit now on 01443 490205 and leave your name and contact number or email Alan Golding at makeitmusicrct@yahoo.co.uk Closing date for submissions is Monday, December 22.
