My fears were confirmed when my initial impression became reality. The man who had woken me up had looked like an arrogant idiot.
While checkout was at 11 and it was already 10.50, I reveled in the glory of a backpackers flexibility, no packing, your life is in a sack!
I made a ruthlessly quick exit! While I had considered leaving, I had not considered
where, so while walking toward town, I decided upon seeing a Volcano (I love
this country, its so diverse) and a good decision it turned out to be.
While I had avoided one animal in my hostel, I made the decision to see another. Crocodrilus Valle is a wildlife sanctuary for Crocodiles.
There, I had the fortune of wrestling one (please see photo evidence)!
In the space of a week, I can say that I touched a crocodile and held a snake, which I
found quite charming, I think its the one they use in the Gladiator to poison a traitor, but the one I held was very friendly and non venomous!
I have also had a huge spider in my tent and rats in my hostel! Strangely, thats what made my final night hanging out with Joe and Lizzy special, them counting the rats and ripping into the
hostel!
I am currently in perhaps the most beautiful place I have ever been to, Manuel Antonio.
The sunset from my hostel is so relaxing, people who stay here all gather together and put on a ridiculously cool mix tape, but then its hard not to be cool from a cliff side balcony, lazing in a
hammock, watching the sun exit and burn the sky.
I love the sunset here so much, it should be compulsory for everyone in the world to see! I am currently using it as my subject for a painting I am doing.
My friend here is an artist and paints in front of this incredible view all day, she is guiding me, so hopefully I'll pick a few things up.
Between La Fortuna and Manuel Antonio, I went to Montezuma. Its a beautiful place, Ticos I talk to always say its the best holiday for them in their country, strange to think it is the equivalent of
Blackpool!
A few friends I met on the bus decided to sleep in tents on the beach, which was cool, but undeniably the highlight was the waterfalls. I have fulfilled a small ambition in jumping off something very
big.
Ever since seeing some guys as a kid jump off the Pont Du Gard, an Aqueduct in the South of France, I have always wanted to do it. When opportunity came, I took it, a 35 foot drop!
The rush is sensational, different to Chirripo, or even racing cars round San Jose, a concentrated rush of uncontrollable adrenaline.
Pura Vida,
Matt.
