CAERPHILLY 25 TALYWAIN 20
TALYWAIN travelled to Caerphilly hoping for another victory but had to settle for a losing bonus point.
Talywain worked hard all game but all was in vain, as two mistakes turned the game to the home side’s advantage. After a penalty for the home side, Talywain got on the score sheet with a wellworked try for Wayne Redmond, converted by Adam Williams. Another penalty for the home side and one for Talywain gave them a 10-6 lead. They then did not deal with the resulting kick-off and allowed the home team to score to lead at half time.
Talywain came out firing at the start of the second half and, after pressing hard, gave away an interception try.
This spurred the home side on and they crossed for another converted try, giving them a 25-10 lead.
Instead of folding under the pressure, Talywain’s forwards, with Pip Blake now snapping at their heels, got their driving game going. Big drives by Uniota Moa, Wayne Redmond, and Jamie Parry gave them the advantage and a driving scrum resulted in a penalty try.
They again drove hard after the kick out.
The backs were released and Joel Pay was sent over in the corner – only for the ref to change his decision of a try on the say-so of the home linesman, who said the winger had gone into touch over the line.
Talywain still battled after this and was rewarded with a try in the other corner by Pip Blake.
If the team can cut down on their mistakes they can make an impression in this league.
On December 2 at the Talywain clubhouse there is an afternoon of fun, with top referee Nigel Owens and a comedian. Tickets are £20.
