THOSE who were in the Millennium Stadium stands and watching on television may find it hard to forget the woeful performance against Argentina.

But wing Alex Cuthbert insists the Wales players will have to put it to the back of their minds when they get back on the training paddock this morning.

It’s not that the Cardiff Blues speedster doesn’t share the frustration of the supporters, it’s just that he has the daunting prospect of a fired-up Samoa gunning for him on Friday.

With a six-day turnaround, Cuthbert believes they cannot afford to dwell on the loss to the Pumas.

“We’ve just got to forget that loss now and concentrate on Samoa,” said the 22-year-old.

“We have to put that game to bed and just look forward.

“We know what we have got to do and we have got to be a lot better to beat Samoa, who will be very physical, and the games with New Zealand and Australia after that as well.

“Obviously we haven’t got off to the best of starts but we just have to focus on Samoa now and we always knew it was going to be a tough game against them.

“We need to have a good week and train hard because we know how physical they will be up front and out wide.

“They will be gunning for us. The boys beat them in the World Cup but that was a tough game and I am sure it will be the same on Friday. They’ve got some class players out wide and up front as well.”

Cuthbert will be hoping that he gets the opportunity to run free against Samoa after a frustrating afternoon against Argentina, who kept him and fellow wing George North quiet.

“I think we just didn’t really work hard enough around the fringes with the forwards I guess,” he said.

“We didn’t have that much room out wide and they just seemed to have a good blue wall up against us.

“When me and George have the ball in hand we are a threat but it was one of those games where we were going out wide and we were coming up against their defence.

“We’ve got plenty of dangerous players, but fair play to Argentina, they defended really well and credit to them.”
