Nathan Buck: Beating Warriors would set us up for flying finish
PROP Nathan Buck believes success against Glasgow this evening could set Newport Gwent Dragons up for a flying end to the season.
Tonight’s clash at Rodney Parade pits the Dragons, second from bottom of the RaboDirect Pro12, against the Warriors who are second.
But the Dragons head into the game on the back of three wins and with the chance to leapfrog Connacht and Edinburgh.
“We need a strong end to the season and a win tonight would really set that up,” said tighthead Buck from Gilwern.
“The season is flying by, games have come thick and fast and we are already approaching the run-in.
“Things are going well at the moment and after beating the Ospreys, which was a case of win at whatever costs, we have managed to go on a little run and confidence is high.
“But we aren’t getting too carried away and we will never move away from taking each game as it comes.”
The Dragons were drubbed 37-6 when the sides met at Scotstoun in November and the Warriors are looking for their third win of the season in Wales following successes in Cardiff and Swansea.
Buck knows that he and his fellow front row forwards will be a key figure in the battle to derail the Scottish side’s push for a home playoff semi-final.
“Glasgow are playing well at the moment and are very physical up front with a good scrum, so we will need to have an edge,” said Buck.
“It was a very hard game up there but I think we have improved massively as a pack and need to continue that good work because it all starts with taking it to your opponent up front.”
