CROSS Keys captain Rob Nash has expressed his desire to record back-to-back Swalec Cup final victories ahead of ahead of his side’s away clash with Neath tomorrow.

Last season, the Pandy Park side recorded a stunning 32-19 triumph over Pontypridd at Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium to lift the cup for the first time.

This weekend sees them take their first step towards retaining their crown after sitting out the first round with a bye.

Six times winners Neath stand in their way but Keys will be the favourites to emerge into the hat for the third round.

There was a dress rehearsal last Friday which saw the third in the table Gwent side smash the Welsh All Blacks 35-7 away in the league.

For inspirational openside flanker Nash, it was a display that was immensely satisfying.

“We feel we are really back on track now after some up and down performances over Christmas,” he said.

“It was a great win at The Gnoll last week and that has really boosted our confidence.

“Cup rugby is different from the league but we go into the game upbeat and knowing we are a good side.

“Our backs were excellent against Neath and outshone our forwards.

“We have a hard couple of weeks coming up but we have a good feeling going into them.”

But he insists they won’t take Neath lightly.

“They will really be up for this game and Neath away is a tough draw.

“Our victory last week was only the second time we have won at The Gnoll in 50 years, which just shows how difficult it is to go there.”

On his determination to be a Swalec Cup winning captain again, Nash said: “Back-to-back triumphs would be a fantastic achievement. It’s our cup and we are determined not to let it go. That message is going to form part of my team talk this weekend.”
