NEWPORT’S Wales international striker Simon Church is today searching for a new club after his release from Reading.

The 24-year-old, who has been a regular for his country throughout the last campaign, has been told he has no future at the relegated club, who finished 19th in the Premier League.

Church has barely featured since new manager Nigel Adkins arrived and ended the campaign on loan at Championship side Huddersfield.

With a fine goal record and in the prime of his career, he is unlikely to be without a club for too long, the Terriers among the clubs likely to try and secure his services.

Church took to Twitter to insist he has no hard feelings over the axe and is looking forward to a new challenge in his career.

“I just want to thank everyone who supported me at Reading over the years,” he said.

“The club has helped me to achieve becoming a full international and being part of a Championship winning side. That was just the start, new opportunities for me now and I can’t wait to see what the future holds.

“It is the end of an era and a start of a new one.

“I would like to wish everyone involved in the club every success in the future, I’m sure it’ll be a very positive one.”

Reading have also announced that Noel Hunt, Ian Harte and Nicky Shorey will leave the club following their relegation.

The Berkshire club’s plans for the new campaign are under way and they yesterday announced that international left-backs Harte and Shorey will not have their contracts extended past the summer. Irish striker Hunt will also be leaving the Madejski Stadium, as will Jay Tabb.

Joseph Mills is another out of contract and is set to join Burnley on a two-year deal, having spent the season there on loan.

Youngsters Charlie Losasso, Angus MacDonald, Josh Webb and Brett Williams will also depart, although six out-of-contract players have been offered an extended stay.

Former Arsenal goalkeeper Stuart Taylor is the most high-profile player asked to stay, while Jonathan Henly, Lawson D’Ath, Nick Arnold, Shane Griffin and Matt Partridge are also in talks with the club.
