Dragons v Mogliano
This live event has finished
- Newport Gwent Dragons get Pool Two of the Amlin Challenge Cup under way against Italian part-timers Mogliano.
- The teams met in last year's tournament with the Dragons easing to 33-0 and 53-3 successes.
- Another bonus-point win is a must for Lyn Jones' side this evening ahead of clashes with Bath and Bordeaux Bègles.
All over. 50-8 and pretty lacklustre but job done ahead of Bath I suppose. Report to come on the website shortly.
Hughes responds from Burton's clever chip. The fly-half then brings up the 50 with the extras.
Try... FOR MOGLIANO! Tommaso Boni goes over down the left. 43-8 with 10 left.
Another one - Ieuan Jones from a pushover try. Burton a victim of the wind. 43-3.
Burton converts superbly. 38-3 with 20 mins left.
Finally another try. Harries again down the right.
The Dragons have started the second half poorly. Plenty of handling errors - still 31-3.
Yellow card for Endrizzi. 14 v 14, Dragons scrum five out...
Wilkinson has yellow-carded Cudd for a breakdown offence in Mogliano's 22. Would he have done the same for Mogliano? He'd say yes.
Back under way, the ref hasn't waved it off...
Half-time. 31-3. Should be more in a slightly farcical game. Dragons aren't playing well but are cruising it.
Bonus point try. Will Harries goes over after J Evs quick tap and Prydie puts over his fellow winger. Burton adds the extras - 31-3 after 32.
Mogliano have scored as many points as they did in two games last year - 24-3 after a penalty by Nicolo Fadalti.
Scrum-half Jon Evans over after a slick lineout move - Dee to Chaparro to Evans through the middle. Burton adds the extras, 24-0 after 24.
Elliot Dee on for his first Dragons appearance, replacing a slightly groggy Sam Parry.
Try number two - Chaparro's first for the region after the Dragons kick to the corner. They peel off the back and the Argentina tighthead barges over. Burton converts and it's 17-0 after 20.
Referee David Wilkinson is hammering the Dragons so far. Stopping them getting any continuity.
Dragons' discipline poor so far. Screech doesn't roll away and Nicolo Fadalti has a crack at goal... wide.
Try number one. All too easy for Ross Wardle against shocking defence. Bonus point by half-time?! Burton converts and it's 10-0 after 8 mins.
Nearly try number one - Burton charges down but Parry can't quite gather the loose ball 22m out.
Dragons show the part-timers plenty of respect - Ieuan Jones wins a penalty and Burton goes for goal against his compatriots. He nails it, 3-0 after 3 mins.
Mogliano sporting a lovely kit. They look like QPR and will look to be as spiky as Joey Barton.
The Dragons are led out by Sid. Dragons receive the kick-off, defending the North Terrace...
The bookies are giving Mogliano a 55-point head start. The teams met last year and in awful conditions it was 53-3 at Rodney Parade.
We should see Elliot Dee - another Wales Under-20s player - make his first regional appearance off the bench. The young hooker is rated highly by the Dragons and his club coaches at Bedwas.
Big game tonight for Ieuan Jones at blindside flanker. First start of the season for the Wales Under-20s starlet, who has had to watch Faletau, Talei and Lewis Evans impress in the back row.
