NEWPORT Gwent Dragons full-back Dan Evans has signed a three-year deal at the Ospreys, writes Chris Kirwan.

The 25-year-old will follow hooker Sam Parry in heading west to the Liberty Stadium region in the summer.

Evans, who won two Wales caps on the tour to North America in 2009, has been a real hit at the Dragons since signing from the Scarlets in 2012, impressing with his big left boot and lines of running.

Evans has made 43 appearances for the Dragons and was top try scorer after crossing the whitewash nine times in 2012/13.

However, the writing was on the wall when the region signed classy Wales and Lions number 15 Lee Byrne from Clermont Auvergne.

"I've made a decision that Lee Byrne and (teenage Wales international) Hallam Amos will be our full-backs next year and I am sticking to that," said director of rugby Lyn Jones earlier this month.

Evans is relishing the chance to battle with fellow former Dragon Richard Fussell for starts in Swansea.

"I've got a lot of experience now, not only in the Rabo but in Europe as well, but I've still got a lot to learn," he said.

"The coaches have said they've seen something they like in me and they believe I can do a job for the Ospreys, and I'm excited about this opportunity.

"Hopefully being in this environment with international players and quality coaches will improve my game and help me become a better player."
