TWO Torfaen Warriors boxers are going for glory in the 2014 Welsh Elite Championship Finals in Cardiff on Friday night.
Ashley Brace and Becky Price are both in action alongside St Joseph's boxers Sean McGoldrick and Joe Cordina at the Cardiff City House of Sport.
Brace, a 22-year-old college student, fights in the women's 51kg final against the experienced Lynsey Holdaway.
She has come down in weight from 54kg while Holdaway is stepping up having claiming two European medals at 48kg.
Price, a 29-year-old Lloyds Bank manager, is in the 60kg final against Charlene Jones from Pembrokeshire and this is the first time that the Torfaen Warriors club has had two members in the finals.
With 11 bouts confirmed; three women's and eight men’s, the stage is set for an exciting night of boxing in the Welsh capital.
Among those boxing in the men's bantamweight will be the current Commonwealth Champion and recent Strandja Gold medallist, Newport's McGoldrick.
He'll take on 2010 Youth Commonwealth medallist Joshua John. With both boxers renowned for being tough and hard hitting, this should make for an explosive bout.
The men's lightweight final between Cardiff's Cordina, a 2012 under-23 European medalist, and Pembroke Dock's evasive Nico Morrision should prove to be a thrilling re-run of last year’s final.
Also one to watch will be the men's middleweight final between Jamie Evans of Dowlais and Merthyr’s Morgan Jones.
James Thomas, performance director at Welsh Boxing said: “After seeing some of the most exciting semi-finals in recent years on Saturday, I am confident we will see some excellent contests at this Fridays Elite Finals night.
"Looking at the bout list, to have Commonwealth champions, European and European under-23 medalists along with returning Welsh champions from 2013 on one show, the spectators have an exceptional night of boxing to look forward to.”
Doors open at 7pm and ticket prices range from £15 for standard seats to £25 at ringside.
