AC Pontytmister 0 Blaenavon Blues 5

First published in Sport

BLUES manager Ryan Durham, without first choice mid fielders Mike Waite, Jamie Brankley and Marc Browning, gave a rare opportunity to second teamer Terry Jones who did not let his manager down and had a sound game in the centre of midfield.

Blues started brightly, a superb far post free kick from young Dominic White found the unmarked Lee Penry. Penry’s header put the Blues one up.

Penry was again in the thick of the action, testing the Pontymister keeper from 20 yards.

On 25 minutes a poor back pass was intercepted by Craig Harris, he played in White who slipped it past the advancing keeper.

Almost immediately Pontymister’s defenders dithered and White smashed the loose ball home to put his side three up.

With half time approaching the home keeper kept his side in the game with a save from Jake Bull, who was again denied when the keeper saved from the rebound.

The second half started with wing back Rob Thomas creating the fourth Blues goal, with the ball seemingly running out of play. Thomas chased the lost cause and kept the ball in play, before Harris picked up his pass and played the ball into the middle where White completed his hat trick, placing his shot inside the far post.

In the next Blues attack White scored his fourth and his sides fifth goal to complete a satisfactory away win for the Blues.
