All Newport teams were composed of Gwent valley players. That is the only reason you have a history. In recent years alone, where would NEWPORT gwent dragons have been without the Pontypool-developed Lloyd Burns, Andrew Coombs and Toby Faletau? Attitudes like yours will cut off the hand that feeds you if you are not careful.
You already bite the hand. And they bite it pretty hard and are incredibly greedy in doing so. If your clubs want Gwent so much then they should turn up and try to buy Newport OR the WRU out. As it is, Newport have been keeping this shower afloat for the last 11 years, weather you like it or not, that's what has happened. However, they have had 11 years to do this and yet, surprise, surprise, no one has. I wonder why. Ebbw couldn't afford it and when they had it once they caused a part of this balls up. Pontypool can't afford it, Bedwas can't, Keys can't. Amateur clubs who want a say in professional business. Only in Welsh Rugby can this happen. Welsh Rugby is a joke, as is the regional system that we've been lumped with."

NEWPORT Gwent Dragons have decided to abort their supporters’ vote for a new crest less than 24 hours after it began.

The Rodney Parade region have pulled the campaign in an embarrassing climbdown after receiving negative feedback.

There have been 2,234 votes since the website went live at 6pm yesterday but the current logo - which has been on the jersey since 2003 - will remain next season.

The idea opened up a can of worms, firing up the rival factions that argue for a return to just Newport or for the region simply to called the Dragons.

A statement to supporters reads: “Yesterday we launched the ‘Your Dragons’ campaign, an initiative aimed at asking you, the supporter, to choose the new Newport Gwent Dragons logo for next season.

“We launched the campaign with the best intentions of providing you with the opportunity to choose the logo you enjoyed the most.

“Yet in light of the vast amount of feedback we have received from the Newport Gwent Dragons community, we have unanimously learned that the logos do not resonate with you in the way in which they were intended.

“As a result, we have decided to withdraw the campaign and will continue to use the current Newport Gwent Dragons logo for next season.

“Your feedback is always highly valuable to us and we hope that our swift response demonstrates our commitment to your thoughts.”
