Regions agree BT deal

Campaign Series: Regions agree BT deal Regions agree BT deal

THE four Welsh regions have been given a boost after a new three-year sponsorship deal was agreed with BT Sport.

The new multi-million pound agreement is the largest joint sponsorship in the history of the four regions - the Scarlets, Ospreys, Cardiff Blues and Newport Gwent Dragons.

The deal will see the BT Sport logo appear on Dragons, Scarlets and Ospreys' shirts for the next three seasons while the Blues have agreed naming rights for their home ground which will now to be known as "BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park".

Ann Beynon, Director Wales, BT said: "We are delighted to have reached an agreement with the four Regions and there are exciting times ahead as we embark on our new relationship with Welsh Rugby.

"Rugby is at the heart of BT Sport - we're excited to support Regional Rugby and its distinct and dynamic culture, with all it stands for in terms of strength, determination, daring, passion and skill."

"BT will build on this exciting new partnership with the Welsh Regions to expand its support for communities across Wales, with the roll-out of our high speed fibre broadband set to make a real difference - particularly in rural areas. We'll see sport and technology working hand-in-hand."

Another pile of money to prop up an underperforming, under-supported bunch of mostly second-raters (best gone to France see).

I think the idea is that the money might improve the "second raters" and stop the best from going to France in the future, see? Plus more supporters will turn up if the best players are playing for their regions.

More turn up for M4 rugby? I think not, 11 years and still pathetic support. Look at the English Premiership, relegation and promotion, something to fight for and far better supported because everyone feels included. Nuff said.
