TORFAEN Tigers chase a repeat of last season’s grand final when they take on Valley Cougars in the South Wales Conference this afternoon (kick-off 2pm).

The Tigers won 24-18 to become champions last summer and currently top the table after high-scoring wins against Newport Titans and Cardiff Demons.

“We have started the season well, with two good wins,” said chairman Rob Davies ahead of the game at Penallta RFC.

“However, I am sure the Cougars will come at us all guns blazing as they wish to erase the pain of defeat (in final) last time out.”

Cougars’ coach Paul Emanuelli will not only want to put the record straight from last season but see a good response from his troops to their last minute defeat at Bridgend Blue Bulls last week.

Newport Titans’ game against Aber Valley Wolves was postponed last week and they attempt to get up and running when they take on Cardiff Spartans at Llandaff North.

Bridgend take on newcomers Gwendraeth Valley Raiders.
