EBBW Vale have continued to strengthen their squad ahead of their Principality Premiership return by securing the return of centre Adam Jones, writes Chris Kirwan.
The 23-year-old from Blackwood had a tremendous 2012/13 campaign when helping the Steelmen to victory in the inaugural Swalec Championship.
He caught the eye of Neath but was unable to make a real impact after making the move to the Gnoll because injuries limited him to eight appearances.
Now he is heading back to Eugene Cross Park, much to the delight of head coach Jason Strange.
"I can't tell you how pleased I am we've got Adam back. He's going to be a great asset to us and it's a real boost for Ebbw Vale rugby," said the former fly-half.
"I said when we were promoted that players who had moved on to other clubs due to the ring-fencing would want to return. Adam is someone who knows our environment and is a great addition to the squad."
Ebbw have announced three friendlies as they prepare for their return to the top flight with the pick of the games against English Championship outfit Moseley.
They will take on the West Midlanders on Saturday, August 16 in Gwent (venue to be confirmed), head to Nantyglo on Tuesday, August 19 and host Newbridge (venue to be confirmed) on Thursday, August 21.
"With three games in under a week we'll have an opportunity to look at the whole squad and get things ready for the British and Irish Cup qualifier against Cross Keys on the 30th," said Strange.
The Steelmen have been drawn against Cardiff Met in the Foster's National Sevens at BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park on Sunday, August 24.
