CROSS Keys and Newport will clash for the right to represent Gwent in the British and Irish Cup after they won their regional semi-finals.
Keys edged out Ebbw Vale 16-13 at Pandy Park thanks to James Cordy-Redden’s try and the boot of Dorian Jones.
The Steelmen had raced into a 10-0 lead thanks to fly-half Iain Smerdon’s penalty and conversion of Owen Williams' try.
The Black and Ambers beat Bedwas 41-25 in an entertaining game at Bridge Field.
Scrum-half Joe Smith, centre Aaron Pinches and wing Matt John scored for the hosts, who led 20-13 at half-time.
But Newport went through to next Saturday’s clash at Pandy Park thanks to second half scores by fly-half Matt O’Brien, hooker Will Evans and wing Jon Morris (2), adding to earlier efforts by centre Nathan Edwards and full-back Geraint O’Driscoll.
Keys or Newport will take on Cornish Pirates, Doncaster and Bedford in the cross-border competition.
