LEE Evans has vowed to kick on at Molineux after penning a fresh three-year deal with Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The 20-year-old from Newport has been a huge hit with Wolves since signing from County in January, 2013.

He made 28 appearances last season to help the Wanderers win the Sky Bet League One title and has started the current Championship campaign impressively.

Evans, who scored for Wales Under-21s against Finland and Lithuania earlier this month, does not intend to rest on his laurels.

"I know sometimes people think that players get a new contract and start to relax – that's not what I am going to be doing," said Evans.

"I want to kick on now, keep improving and trying to keep my place in the team. I've enjoyed the start we've made to the season.

"The gaffer has shown faith in me and I'd like to think I've come up with some good performances.

"This contract is just a stepping stone to keep going, keep doing well and playing a part in a successful season for the club."

Wolves head of football development and recruitment Kevin Thelwell believes that Evans will receive a call-up from Wales boss Chris Coleman if he maintains his rapid rise.

"He has grown from being a good young player in League One making 30 appearances last year to kicking on, having an excellent pre-season and start to the season," said Thelwell.

"He has been a big part of the promising start we have made over the first five or six games.

"That has been coupled with the progress he has made for the Welsh Under-21 level and, based on his performances, I wouldn't be surprised if he isn't too far away from a senior cap."

Evans came through the Exiles' youth system and attracted the attention of a number of Football League clubs when he impressed against York in the FA Trophy final at Wembley.

He made 25 appearances for the club before his move to the Midlands.
