THREE Newport Gwent Dragons players have been called up to the Wales squad for the autumn internationals – but there is no place for tighthead Adam Jones.

Number eight Taulupe Faletau has been joined by wing/full-backs Hallam Amos and Tom Prydie in Warren Gatland’s 34-man squad for the Tests against Australia, Fiji, New Zealand and South African.

Amos, who was capped against Tonga last autumn, scored a scintillating try in the Dragons’ stunning win at Stade Francais at the weekend and is back in the Wales squad after missing the summer tour of South Africa because of shoulder surgery.

Prydie has done well while playing out of position in midfield to cover the Dragons' centre injury crisis. The 22-year-old won the last of his five caps against Japan in the summer of 2013 and has pipped Ospreys speedster Eli Walker to be the back-up to George North, Alex Cuthbert, Liam Williams and Leigh Halfpenny.

The Dragons trio are joined in the squad by in-form Ospreys loosehead Nicky Smith, who is the only uncapped player, but veteran Cardiff Blues tighthead Adam Jones and Gloucester fly-half James Hook are not selected.

Jones was dropped for the second Test against South Africa in the summer and misses out with Samson Lee, Rhodri Jones and Aaron Jarvis getting the nod.

Gatland said: "When you look through the squad there is a huge amount of experience. We've taken a lot of things into account and made some tough decisions.

"We've had to weigh up a balance of players who play in Wales and outside, due to how often they can train and are with us but we are really happy with the squad.

"We are looking to the future and the next twelve months ahead with this squad but it doesn't close the door for anyone not selected.”

Flanker Sam Warburton has been named as captain for the Dove Men Series.
