TONY Bellew has never been shy of the spotlight, but he’s indicated he is ready to offer Nathan Cleverly a rematch as he prepares to make his Hollywood debut, writes Michael Pearlman.

The Liverpool fighter gained revenge over his domestic rival on Saturday night at Liverpool’s Echo Arena as he claimed a split decision points’ victory over Cleverly, who beat him at the same venue as a light heavyweight in 2011.

Bellew is now targeting world titles as well as his unlikely Hollywood tilt, but insists he wouldn’t be averse to finally settling the score with Cleverly... In Wales.

"Cleverly deserves that," said Bellew. "He has come here and fair play to him for doing that, so it is only fair I go to his place and we do it again. I would do that in a heartbeat, not a problem,” he said.

"The cruiserweight limit suits me down to the ground, whereas I am not sure about him, so maybe we could do it at a catch weight and then we will see who the better fighter is once and for all.

"On this occasion it was my night and how one of the judges gave him the fight his beyond me? That's just crazy, just daft. I won it, no disputes there.

"Cleverly proved exactly what he proved in the first fight three years ago. He is a very tough lad and he can take a punch.

"I hit him with some big shots and although I hurt him, I couldn't get him out of there. It was hard work, but I really enjoyed it and I would do it all again without a doubt."

Bellew confirmed he’s now ready to embark on a Hollywood career, jetting out to play the role of a foe to Apollo Creed’s grandson in Creed, a Rocky spin-off that will see Bellew portraying Pretty Boy Porter in a film where Andre Ward is also tipped to star with former Friday Night Lights star Michael B.Jordan playing the role of Creed.

“I’ve got business in Hollywood in December,” he said in his post-fight press conference.

“All I know is that I’m close to agreeing to it and I’ve been sought after for quite some time. I’m off to America early in December, I’ve got a few things to do over there and life is going to change.

“All I know is that I’m close to agreeing to it and I’ve been sought after for quite some time.”

“Is it a speaking part? I hope so,” he said. “Because my no-one wants to look at my face if I’m not talking.”
