NEWPORT Gwent Dragons centre Tyler Morgan is to see a specialist to get an expert opinion on a persistent knee problem.

The 19-year-old received a Six Nations call-up from Warren Gatland but was unable to take a full part in training and then could not be named in the Under-20s side for their opener against England.

Morgan first suffered a knee injury against the Ospreys in the second week of the season. He made his return in November only for the problem to flare up again, forcing him to have another month on the sidelines.

Morgan, the only uncapped player on a national dual contract, returned in December and was back to his best when putting in some stellar displays.

He was to the fore as the Dragons secured a home European Rugby Challenge Cup quarter-final by beating Newcastle and Stade Francais and as far as his region was concerned everything was fine when he headed off to the Vale of Glamorgan.

However, he could not feature fully for the seniors in the build-up to the England game and the Welsh medical team have sought the opinion of a knee specialist as they attempt to get to the bottom of the problem.
