NEWPORT'S Sean McGoldrick became the first Welsh fighter to win in this season of the World Series of Boxing (WSB) on Saturday night.
McGoldrick defeated Farid Kennouche to help the British Lionhearts return to winning ways with a 3-2 victory over the Algeria Desert Hawks in Blida.
A unanimous win for Harvey Horn and split decision victories for McGoldrick and Sam Maxwell secured the points as the Lionhearts chalked-up their first away win of the season.
A split decision defeat for Antony Fowler put paid his hopes finishing the season in one of the top two places in the middleweight rankings and securing early qualification for Rio.
The Lionhearts other loss came at heavyweight where Abdoulaye Diane was defeated by home favourite, Samir Maslouh. More details on the Lionhearts and WSB are available at worldseriesboxing.com/ and by following the team on twitter at @Brit_Lionhearts.
