TWO young boys were reunited with their mother yesterday after they were involved in a 13-hour siege in a Glasgow multi-storey tower block.

Negotiators, working in teams of three, tried to talk the man out after he barricaded himself in a flat with the children in Stirlingfauld Place in the Gorbals.

Police officers in riot gear were sent into the building as a ''precautionary measure'' but were not needed.

Residents were allowed access to the building throughout the incident which started at 1.35am yesterday following an alleged disturbance in the top floor flat of the 23-storey building.

The man gave himself up just before 2.30pm and the children, aged one and three, were reunited with their 23-year-old mother shortly afterwards.

A police spokesperson said both children were safe and well. Later it emerged that a 22-year-old man had been arrested by police.

He is expected to appear in Glasgow Sheriff Court today and a report is to be submitted to the procurator fiscal.
