Secret files from Francois Mitterrand's anti-terrorist unit showed the late president personally ord-ered widespread telephone-tapping now under investigation by magistrates, French media reported today.

The weekly magazine L'Express and the newspaper Le Monde published what they said were extracts from files seized by DST counter-espionage officers and investigating magistrates in February.

The archives inc-luded many notes carrying the president's laconic handwritten comment: ''Vu'' (Seen).

The investigation includes the alleged telephone tapping of dozens of politicians, writers, lawyers, and journalists without judicial permission.

Among those whose phones were tapped was actress and Chanel model Carole Bouquet, said to be amorously pursued by a senior presidential aide, jealous of her other admirers. - Reuter.
