THE world's most famous golf links have a new driving force. The St
Andrews Links Trust yesterday took possession of 10 golf cars from
Japanese company Yamaha, which will supply a further six. Rangers will
use the cars to patrol the links and provide emergency services on the
New Course and the Strathtyrum course but not, meantime, on the hallowed
turf of the Old Course. Mr Nicky James, general manager of the trust,
said: ''We move forward with these new contributions. They will bring
benefit to the elderly, who want to golf into old age, or may be
disabled.''
