TWELVE people were wounded, five of them seriously, when a Sarajevo

suburb came under a surprise bombardment this evening, witnesses said.

The attack on the capital's Dobrinja area came as local Bosnian

Television broadcast a report that American Ambassador Viktor Jakovic

had visited the suburb earlier in the day.

A number of the casualties were caused when five shells landed in a

30-minute period, while others were hurt by a sixth shell as local

people were trying to aid victims.
