NEWPORT'S Commonwealth Games gold medal-winning boxer Sean McGoldrick is to turn professional.
McGoldrick said he was "excited" to have signed professional terms with MGM and added: "I believe with their guidance I'll be going all the way.
"I'm very proud of my amateur achievements and to have represented my country at the highest level."
It was at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi that bantamweight McGoldrick, 24, lost in the 56kg final to Manju Wanniarachchi, only for the Sri Lankan to fail a drugs test which saw the St Josephs fighter upgraded to gold.
McGoldrick also claimed bronze at the 2014 Games in Glasgow.
Meanwhile, Andrew Selby has had a late change of opponent for his 10-rounder in Edinburgh on Friday night.
The St Joseph's ace and British flyweight champion was due to face Hermogenes Castillo on the Cyclone Promotions show at the Meadowbank Sports Centre.
However, an injury has ruled Castillo out of the fight and has been replaced by his countryman Felix Moncada.
Selby is also set to fight again at Wembley Arena in London on November 18 against an as yet unnamed opponent.
The 27-year-old's older brother Lee has said he is expected to defend his IBF world featherweight title against Jonathan Victor Barros in the United States this December.
