BLACKWOOD’S Craig Evans retained his WBO European lightweight title after outpointing Irishman Stephen Ormond in Belfast.
St Joseph’s ace Evans sent challenger Ormond to the canvas twice in the final session before the three ringside judges awarded him a unanimous victory.
They scored the fight 97-91, 99-89, 96-93 in the Welshman’s favour at the end of 10 entertaining rounds.
The win will boost Evans’ global ranking and take him closer to a possible showdown with current WBO world champion Terry Flanagan.
