DRAGONS wing Hallam Amos will be out for four to five weeks after suffering a dislocated elbow in the 52-10 loss to Leinster.

The Wales wing/full-back was injured in the second half of the Guinness PRO14 encounter at the Royal Dublin Society while attempting to make a tackle.

The 23-year-old, who was making his 100th Dragons appearance, was carted from the field after being given oxygen and the initial worry was a broken arm but the damage not as bad as it first looked.

Amos, whose burgeoning international career has been punctuated by a pair of shoulder surgeries and an ankle injury that meant he lost his Wales spot for last season’s Six Nations, should be targeting a November return.

That gives the 18-times capped speedster, who started at full-back for Warren Gatland’s side in all three summer Test, a chance of making the autumn internationals – but the Dragons will be without one of their main attacking weapons.

“Hallam has got a dislocated elbow, it went back in at the time, which is positive, but it looks like four to five weeks,” said head coach Bernard Jackman.

“Hopefully him and Tyler Morgan (hamstring) will be back around the same time. It makes our outside backs cover a little bit light.

“It’s a huge blow, he is a big leader for us. We didn’t get enough ball to him while he was on the field but he is one of the players we know can threaten, him and Jordan Williams are a dangerous combination.

“But if it’s four or five weeks that is a positive result for us given that it is a dislocation.”

The loss of Amos is likely to lead to a return to the XV for Jared Rosser, who enjoyed a breakthrough season in 2017/18 and scored five tries in the Dragons A team’s Celtic Cup win against Connacht in Ystrad Mynach.

“He is one of the players that we developed really well last year,” said Jackman. “He had a good game in his first game back against Cardiff Blues in the Celtic Cup and five tries would lead me to believe he was decent!”
