GLAMORGAN continued to pile-on the misery for Leicestershire on day two of their LV=County Championship clash at the Swalec Stadium, writes Michael Pearlman.

The Dragons dismissed the visitors for 109 on Sunday in cloudy conditions but they had no such problems with the bat, a fine innings of 88 from South African opener Jacques Rudolph helping the Welsh county to 350/8, declaring as soon as they achieved their four bonus batting points.

Glamorgan have in mind that the weather, rather than the visitors is perhaps most likely to deny them victory, with only 55 overs bowled on day one and yesterday also hit by a rain delayed start, Glamorgan going past the visitors’ total in the 33rd over for the loss of a single wicket.

With the total on 116, Will Bragg sparred at a rising delivery from Charlie Shreck with Greg Smith diving to hold onto the edge at second slip. The afternoon session began with Glamorgan on 148/2 and Rudolph and Ben Wright took it to 177 before Rudolph's fine innings came to an end as he edged a delivery from Shreck into Niall O'Brien's gloves as the visitors gained their first bonus point of the contest.

Nathan Buck, having switched to the River End then found the edge of Wright's bat as Greg Smith took his second catch in the slips as Glamorgan lost their fourth wicket on 191.

Jim Allenby joined Chris Cooke and helped Glamorgan to their first batting point as he bludgeoned Ireland through mid-wicket and backward point for a pair of fours in the 67th over.

Taylor returned and induced an outside edge from Cooke's bat which bisected the slip and gully fielders before hurtling away to the vacant third man position as the fifth wicket pair completed a fifty partnership shortly before tea besides securing a second batting point.

Cooke made 58 and Allenby 44 before Glamorgan really want on the attack as they attempted to get the visitors in for an uncomfortable final few over, Mark Wallace (18), Dean Cosker 11 and the unbeaten Michael Hogan (10) and Will Owen (11) taking them to 350.

The visitors had six overs to survive and were unable to do so, Greg Smith avoiding a pair but out for one after a fine ball from Tom Helm saw him caught by Rudolph in the slips, Leicester finishing on 6/1.
