PANTEG Cricket Club are set to become members of a new South Wales Premier League Division Two next summer, writes Tony Poole.
Though a majority of Glamorgan & Monmouthshire (G&M) League clubs turned down a South Wales Premier League (SWPL) Division Two, it looks set to be introduced.
It is thought likely that the participating G&M clubs in SWPL Division Two will be Panteg, Penarth, Miskin Manor, Pentyrch and Tondu.
However, Penarth only finished sixth in the G&M last season while Miskin Manor were Division Two champions.
But with Chepstow and Usk opting out, Penarth and Miskin Manor threw their hats into the SWPL ring.
Travel problems it seems led to both Chepstow and former Premier League club Usk deciding to stay put.
In the other feeder league, the South Wales Association (SWA), the clubs involved are likely to be Swansea, Tata Steel, Aberdare, Carmarthen Wanderers and Ynystawe.
It could lead to fixture-lists in both the SWA and G&M being ripped up in the light of five clubs exiting each league.
The move has been greeted with dismay in the feeder leagues, who will now stage EGMs, but what they can achieve is limited.
The new season is scheduled to start in May.
