WALES side have finished 2016 one place above England in 12th in the year-ending FIFA world rankings.

Chris Coleman’s men made the semi-finals of Euro 2016 and retain their high ranking despite a difficult start to their World Cup qualifying campaign.

Northern Ireland are 32nd with Scotland in 67th and the Republic of Ireland in 23rd.

Argentina head the list with Brazil, Germany, Chile and Belgium making up the top five.

Meanwhile, it has been revealed who Wales will play in the under-17 and under-19 championship qualifying campaigns.

At under-19 level, Wales have been drawn in Group 13 with Slovakia, Kazakhstan and Turkey, who will host the mini-tournament in November 2017.

The top two teams will progress from each group to the Elite Round, along with the third-placed team with the best record against the top pair in their group.

The under-17s will be up against the Netherlands, Hungary and Kosovo, who Wales will play for the very first time at any international level.

The Hungarians will host the group in October 2017.
