ANOTHER Saturday, another thriller to involve Cross Keys who won another match with the very last movement of the game.

The Pandy Park side have a habit of making their fans suffer only to deliver the goods in the most exciting fashion and send them home in ecstasy.

Three weeks ago they did exactly the same thing against Aberavon and so nearly did again in another nail-biter away to Bedwas.

Keys enjoyed a whirlwind start but only had three points to show for their dominance when outside half Ethan Davies slotted a ninth minute penalty.

They should have been considerably further ahead, wing Nathan Trowbridge going agonisingly close to bagging another try after celebrating his 50th in the narrow defeat to Bedwas last week.

Cardiff lock James Goode was yellow carded in the 18th minute when punches were thrown after the visitors conceded a penalty from a retreating scrum.

Centre and skipper Leon Andrews almost scored a glorious try soon after, only to be hauled down just short of the line.

Keys were giving the capital city side a battering and they finally kicked their door down in the 27th minute when wing Polu Uhi finished well, squeezing in for a try in the corner.

Davies’ glorious touchline conversion gave his side a thoroughly deserved 10-0 lead.

With Cardiff under intense pressure in the scrum, they were unable to gain a foothold as Keys kept them pinned back deep in their own half.

Davies kept the scoreboard ticking with his second penalty five minutes before half time as the home side continued to boss the game.

The sides went into the interval with the hosts 13-0 up and in complete control.

Cardiff hit back early in the second half on a rare raid into Keys territory, fly half James Whittingham nailing a penalty.

And in the 46th minute they were right back in it when scrum half Tom Slater picked up a lose pass before racing home from near the halfway line for a real smash and grab try which was converted by Whittingham.

Keys had lost their way as the momentum began to swing in Cardiff’s favour.

Whittingham should have put them on level terms, only for his penalty attempt to go just wide.

But he made no mistake with a fine effort in the 60th minute which made things all square at 13-13.

It was Cardiff’s turn to dominate and they pegged Keys back to their own try line after they were awarded a scrum five, but the hosts won a penalty.

A great clearance kick by Keys scrum half James Leadbeater brought some welcome relief as did a neat one by Davies which turned the tables and gave the home side decent field position for about the first time in the second half with just over ten minutes to go.

A superb break in midfield by Uhi almost resulted in a terrific individual try, but the powerhouse was tackled just short of the line.

From that move, Cardiff were reduced to 14 men when their centre Jack Phillips was yellow carded.

Uhi nearly scored again after going over the try line only for the game to be pulled back for a forward pass.

Keys frantically tried to press home their advantage and they did when Andrews crossed for a cracking uncoverted try in the last moment of the game after some slick handling by the backs up the left flank to seal it.
