CROSS Keys haven't been given a week off from their homework in Swalec Cup week – they have prepared for RGC 1404 in the same way as they would in the Principality Premiership, writes Chris Kirwan.

Keys, who thrashed Llanelli at Parc y Scarlets in round one, make the trip north to Colwyn Bay on Saturday to face a side that are fourth in the Championship.

The men from Pandy Park were runners-up to Pontypridd last year and lifted the cup in 2012 but head coach Greg Woods says there is no danger of his charges being complacent at Parc Eirias.

"It's a big game," he said. "We are expecting it to be a big crowd because it's probably the biggest game in their short history.

"I've told the boys it's a potential banana skin but one thing we never do is disrespect anyone and the team that we will select will show that.

"From a coaching point of view we have put in the exactly the same prep work as we did in the British and Irish Cup. We have watched RGC, put analysis together and got information from Gwent Championship sides.

"We have done our homework and are preparing like the big game that it is, hopefully that will show in the players' performance."

Keys head into the game on the back of wins against fellow playoff hopefuls Cardiff and Ebbw Vale and a 43-0 destruction of Neath, who RGC beat at the Gnoll in round one.

"We are in a good place and if we keep our form going then it should be enough up there," said Woods.

"If we are off it in terms of concentration or attitude then it will be a difficult afternoon but I expect us to be right up for it."

Keys will once again look for Dragons flanker Scott Matthews to lead the charge on the ground where he impressed for Wales Under-20s last season.
