BEDWAS travel to Cardiff tomorrow (kick-off 2.30pm) safe in the knowledge that their place in the top eight of the Principality Premiership is assured ahead of the split in the league – but that does not mean to say Steve Law’s men have nothing to play for at the Arms Park.

The league breaks in two after this weekend’s fixtures and points totals are reset to zero, with everyone then playing each other once to determine the best side in the top and bottom eight.

While their hosts are still vying for a position among the Premiership’s elite for the second portion of the season – they need to win and hope Cross Keys do them a favour against Ebbw Vale – Bedwas want a 10th triumph of the season before the big split.

Bedwas could finish the first part of the campaign second in the table, something that would certainly give them a huge confidence boost going into the run-in.

“I’m very happy with our performances, results and where we are at the moment,” said head coach Law.

“There is definitely something for us to play for this weekend. We’d like to finish this bit of the season with a win and be as high in the table as possible.”

He added: “If you look at our stats, we are right up there in terms of attack and defence, so with one or two changes to our game in open play we’ve definitely got a chance of going all the way this season.”

Law was delighted with how his side saw off Llanelli on New Year’s Eve – a 36-22 win at Bridge Field made their top eight place absolutely certain.

However, he knows Cardiff are going to present a tougher challenge tomorrow, adding: “They have got a lot to play for and if we are not at our best we won’t get a result at the Arms Park.”
