TEAM manager Mark Prangell insists Cross Keys will not let their crunch cup quarter-final with Pontypool distract them when they travel to Swansea tonight (kick-off 7.30pm).

After wins over Llanelli and Bridgend, Keys are bidding for a third successive victory in tier two of the Principality Premiership at St Helen’s.

The game against an improving All Whites outfit comes just over a week before they welcome Pooler to Pandy Park for an all-Gwent last eight tie in the WRU National Cup.

It was announced yesterday that the showdown for a place in the semi-finals would be broadcast live on S4C with a kick-off time of 2.45pm.

Pooler don’t have a fixture between now and then but Keys do, and Prangell says his side will not take their eyes off tonight’s tussle.

“It’s not an easy place to go but we’ll go down there and look to get something out of the game,” he said.

“Swansea are very similar to Neath. Neither had a great first half of the season but both are improving all the time.

“We’re looking to finish as high as we can in tier two and that is the focus for this week, we’re not thinking about the Pontypool cup game yet.”

Keys were comfortable 43-19 winners when they hosted Swansea in September, but three defeats on the bounce followed and those proved costly to the Gwent side and their hopes of a top eight place.

“Probably the biggest difference between our start to the season in September and now is the bounce of the ball,” added Prangell.

“The two games away to Llandovery and Carmarthen Quins come to mind straight away. Those could have gone our way and things might have been different.”

Meanwhile, Pontypool have offered free travel to 120 of the club’s fans to Pandy Park next Saturday.
