CROSS Keys can put their thrashing by Neath three weeks ago firmly behind them tomorrow and seal a Principality Premiership tier two play-off spot when Cardiff visit Pandy Park (kick-off 2.30pm).

A 59-14 drubbing at the Gnoll on April 8 brought an end to Keys’ four-match winning run in the bottom eight, and now there are only two points between them in second and fifth-placed Bridgend.

But victory over the Blue and Blacks and results going for them elsewhere would see Keys safely into the top four ahead of next month’s semi-finals.

If Keys don’t get the job done this weekend then they will have to get the points required against Newport at Rodney Parade next Wednesday.

Their last-four exit to Pontypridd in the WRU National Cup was a massive blow to Keys but there is still a chance of silverware with the tier two title up for grabs.

As for opponents Cardiff, they have endured a torrid second half to the season, losing all five of their fixtures and sitting rock bottom of the table.

Head coach Duane Goodfield, a former Keys player, will not be at the helm next season.

It has been decided that he will focus solely on his role with the Cardiff Blues academy.

While Cardiff may have had a season to forget, which included being knocked out of the cup by Pontypool, they did beat Keys when the teams met in November.

Meanwhile, there is a past players event for former Keys stalwarts before tomorrow’s encounter.

Those interested in attending the function should meet in the Pandy Park clubhouse from 12.45pm.
