Senghenydd convincing win
4:06pm Wednesday 12th October 2011 in Latest sport
FIELDING no fewer than seven ex-Caerphilly players, Senghenydd steamrollered the Castletown side 89-0.
The visitors scored their first try in the left corner inside the first minute courtesy of winger Lloyd Rowlands.
Scrum Half Alun Ford stepped up and slotted the first of his 12 conversions. Further tries by captain Dewi Smith, Ford, David Davies, Rowlands, and Mike Silcox helped the visitors to a 42-0 first half lead. The second half saw Ford add another inside the first minute on his way to a tally of 29 points.
Caerphilly’s only resistance came at the beginning of the final quarter, but only lasted 10 minutes before further tries were added by Silcox, Rowlands, Chris Payne and Gareth Short. Caerphilly travel to Garndiffaith next weekend.
