As David Weir delivered his second gold medal of the paralympic games last night residents in Wallington got their own golden delivery this morning.

To mark the Paralympian gold medal efforts at the Olympic Stadium in Stratford, Royal Mail have painted a post box gold on Woodcote Road in Wallington.

Weir sealed his second gold of the games in the T54 1500m last night in dramatic fashion taking command on the final lap to storm to victory.

Just this morning, Weir, from the Roundshaw Estate, was on the track again as he cruised to victory in his 800 metre heat, the final of which is tomorrow.

"Legend"? Another ruddy legend. No, James. An accomplished sportsman. Just cos "legend" is such a fashionable word by people like you. Ali, Lewis, Coe, Elvis, James Dean - legends. Can you please explain why you have used "legend"? Another reader lost.

Nice gesture, but there is a post box 5 minutes walk from David's house on Roundshaw, which would maybe have been more appropriate than one in Wallington which is 2 miles away! still, nice one David.

It might be two miles from his house, but it'll still only take him 5 minutes to get there :)

Lighten up, timm - it's just a bit of fun for a good cause. And if we're playing pedantry, none of the people you mentioned are legends either... they're all people, not narratives.

imalaydee, They probably painted the one in the high street being as it would be seen more, bit like the one in cheam village. No disrespect to the roundshaw, but i dont travel near or through there and nor would i. However i do go through the high street on my way to and from work. Its nice to see that its there for all the residents, as well as those passing through the town.
