NEWPORT County AFC are in talks with Swansea City to extend the loan of Curtis Obeng but fellow Swans Scott Tancock and James Loveridge have returned to the Liberty Stadium.

Central defender Tancock made four starts for the Exiles after arriving on loan in September – the last being the 1-0 win over Southend United on October 21.

He took to Twitter to say his farewells on leaving Rodney Parade today.

Tancock posted: “Thanks to everybody at Newport County for the past two months!

“Enjoyed the experience and I wish everybody the best for the rest of the season!”

Striker Loveridge was an injury-time substitute in Sunday’s 2-2 draw with Exeter City – his eighth and final appearance.

Loveridge started in midfield against York City and Dagenham & Redbridge in October before coming off the bench six times but never earned a start up front.

Obeng has started four successive matches since his debut in the 1-1 draw at home to Accrington Stanley on October 25.

The 25-year-old has featured at right wing-back and, for the past two weeks, at left wing-back, but his initial loan period is up on Wednesday.

He is still working towards full fitness and manager Justin Edinburgh sees him as a key part of his plans with Robbie Willmott ruled out for the remainder of the season after surgery on a foot injury.

Meanwhile, the Exiles welcome back striker Shaun Jeffers following his loan spell at Brackley Town in the Vanarama Conference North.

Jeffers started the last seven matches for Brackley and will be available for County’s trip to Bury in League Two this Saturday.

The match at Gigg Lane against the sixth-placed Shakers will also mark the end of the loan periods for goalkeeper Joe Day and striker Joe Pigott.

Day will head back to Peterborough United next week and County are already in talks with Posh to secure his return in January.

Pigott goes back to Championship outfit Charlton Athletic and is unlikely to return.

He was a late sub on Sunday – his first appearance since scoring a stunning equaliser against Accrington on October 25.

Illness kept Pigott out of the trip to Hartlepool on November 1 and Charlton would not clear him to play in the FA Cup defeat at Luton Town, and allow him to be cup-tied, unless the loan was extended.
