STRIKER Aaron O’Connor is fit to return and provide the Exiles with a timely boost, writes Michael Pearlman.

The 31-year old striker is County’s top scorer this term with eight goals, but hasn’t featured for the Exiles since the middle of February and hasn’t scored since being sent off against Stevenage in mid-December.

However, he’s trained all week following groin trouble and Dack admits it is a case of perfect timing for his charges.

“Aaron O’Connor trained all this week,” Dack explained.

“We’ve got two home games now and that’s a big opportunity for us.

“We’ve got one or two knocks, but we are hoping Aaron can play some part for us (the Exiles host Cheltenham on Friday at Rodney Parade).

“Ismail Yakubu has a little injury and Zebba (Chris Zebroski) is suspended but wouldn’t have featured anyway.

“We’ve needed him but have had to be patient and are considering the next 11 games.

“Aaron has had a good week inside him and is raring to go and if your top goalscorer is available, you have to put him out there.

“His work rate and energy, he’s a real asset for us and we’ve been lacking his qualities a bit.

“It would be good to have him back and be able to pick him again.”
